If you spend time outdoors especially with pets you will get a tick bite at some time. They are in all states. Here in North Carolina I remove at least one tick just about every day from Zoe, my Australian Cattle dog. She loves to run thru the forest behind my mountain home. And that is where the ticks seem to just wait for us.
To remove them I use the TickBeeOff-safecard. It works easy, safe and fast even on a very squirmy dog like Zoe. It’s the size and shape of a credit card with a specially designed tip that slides under the tick and lifts it out, head and all.
Proper removal of ticks lessens the danger of infection. Ticks regurgitate their contents back into their victim when they are irritated during removal by twisting or using tweezers.
You may think: ‘why not just give her medication or a tick collar?’ The medication is not guaranteed effective and in the long run probably not good for her health. The tick collars contain neurotoxins, that’s how they kill the ticks. So the chemical on the collar spreads out over the entire dog….do I really want to cuddle up next to that?
So, I remove the ticks as they appear. And what dog doesn’t like to be petted (inspected) several times daily?
If the tick has been there for a while, and the site of the bite is red, I give Zoe the homeopathic remedy Ledum followed by Hypericum the next day to prevent infection. The next day the redness is gone. This homeopathic protocol has been effective in preventing disease from puncture wounds (Tetanus) and insect bites for over 200 years, and has kept Zoe and myself healthy.
